Stop Signs

The HOA approached the Livingston Parish Council about adding additional stop signs to Avoyelles Avenue.  The proposal was voted on, approved, and signs were put in place.

It’s been a few months now.  Do you think they’ve been effective at curbing the speeding problem? Please add your comments, and also vote on the new poll at the right of the screen.

Thanks,

Nick

2012 Budget

Please take the time to familiarize yourself with this year’s budget.  If you have any concerns or questions, I’d like to hear them.

Sheriff Patrols

As most of you probably saw today, we are now paying for Sheriff patrols in the neighborhood. They will appear at undisclosed times and locations.

The funds for this are coming out of the “entertainment” budget, at my request and the rest of the board’s approval.

Stop Signs and Speed Limits

Many of us agree that speeding is a huge problem in our subdivision.  During our last council meeting, I proposed that we approach the Livingston Parish council about adding stop signs and lowering the speed limit.  The feeling was mutual among all board members, and Jason Simcoe ran with it.  Jason approached Buddy Mincey, our current councilman about the issue.

The two of them toured our neighborhood, and Buddy agreed to help.  He is going to draft an ordinance to add three way stop signs at Iberia and Concordia and to lower the speed limit to 20 MPH.  It should appear on the agenda for the October 27th meeting.  He does not expect any resistance and it is a completely reasonable request.  If implemented, it should take around 30 days for us to see the changes implemented.

If anyone has any comments or concerns, feel free to post them in response to this post.

Also, Mr. Mincey has offered his parish cell phone number if anyone would like to speak to him.

Thanks Jason, for making this happen so quickly.

From makael in the forum:

Hi Everyone, I am trying to put together a neighborhood garage sale for Saturday, August 27th. We already have 4 houses on board and wanted to offer anyone else to join in. I will be putting the signs out and advertisting in the newspaper. If you are interested, please let me know so I can advertise the number of houses participating.

Service Requests to the HOA

If anyone notices something in the subdivision that needs repair, or attention in general, PLEASE submit a service request to RealManage.  The HOA/RealManage appear to be completely reactive instead of proactive, so complaining seems to be the only way to get anything resolved.

If you prefer, post your complaint here, and I will forward it on your behalf.

2011 Budget

I’ve been given a copy of the Livingston Trace HOA 2011 budget.

You can compare this one with last year’s:  Updated 2010 Budget.

Quiet

On December 19th, I posted about the new board members being elected.  Has anyone noticed any improvements being made since then?  Nothing against the new guys; I’d just like to hear what plans they’ve got for the neighborhood.

Neighborhood Watch Meeting

I’m sure most of you received this in the mail today, but I figured I’d post it on the site.

Due to the recent events in the community, the Homeowners Association Board has decided to start a Neighborhood Watch Program.  A Neighborhood Watch program is the oldest crime prevention program in existence.  This community based program encourages neighbors to get to know each other, look out for and report suspicious activity.  There will be an orientation meeting:

Wednesday, February 9th, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Livingston Parish Library, Denham Springs/Walker Branch

8101 Florida Blvd, Denham Springs, LA 70726

Deputy Jason Ard with the Livingston Parish Sheriffs Office will be the speaker.  Deputy Ard will give a 10 minute presentation and then be available to answer any questions.  The Livingston trace Homeowner Association Board encourages all residents to attend this meeting and get involved in this program.

I’m a fan of the idea, and hopeful of its effectiveness.
